Short Course: Nonlinear Continuum Mechanics

The course will focus on covering material and geometric nonlinearities and requirements that a material model (constitutive relation) must satisfy.  Topics to be covered include, Lagrangian and Eulerian formulation of finite deformation problems, Entropy Principle (2nd law of thermodynamics), Energy balance needed to check computed results, Material Objectivity, Material Symmetry, Incompressible Constraint, Examples of Constitutive Relations for Finite Deformations, Fiber-reinforced materials.
