Non-Classical Continuum Models for Materials With Microstructure
A number of generalized continum models exist. Such models are typically aimed to reflect different effects which can't be described by classical Cauchy continuum, mainly related to the presence of microstructural heterogeneities, such as dispersion, size dependence etc.
Recently such models have attracted increased attention in the context of multi-scale modeling and homogenization theories. Elastic properties can be obtained from analysis of microstructure by spatials averaging. However, it is not always clear how to obtain various parameters entering the generalized continuum models from the known microstructure.
In this minisimposium we would like to invite researchers to discuss questions related to the non-classical continuum models: their formulation, implementation, range of applicability, obtaining parameters for them from known microstructure from pure computations and from experimental data, relations between those models and various computational issues.
